A INJUSTAMENTE ESQUECIDA BANDA DOS ANOS 60 - THE KINKS (Segundas-f. musicais Nº38)

THE 20 th CENTURY MAN

This is the age of machineryA mechanical nightmareThe wonderful world of technologyNapalm hydrogen bombs biological warfare
This is the twentieth centuryBut too much aggravationIt's the age of insanityWhat has become of the green pleasant fields of Jerusalem
Ain't got no ambitionI'm just disillusionedI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want, I don't want to be here
My mama said she can't understand meShe can't see my motivationJust give me some securityI'm a paranoid schizoid product of the twentieth century
You keep all your smart modern writersGive me William ShakespeareYou keep all your smart modern paintersI'll take Rembrandt, Titian, Da Vinci and Gainsborough
Girl we gotta get out of hereWe gotta find a solutionI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want, I don't want to die here
Girl, we gotta get out of hereWe gotta find a solutionI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want, I don't want to be here
I was born in a welfare stateRuled by bureaucracyControlled by civil servantsAnd people dressed in greyGot no privacy, got no liberty'Cause the twentieth century peopleTook it all away from me
Don't want to get myself shot downBy some trigger happy policemanGotta keep a hold on my sanityI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want to die here
My mama says she can't understand meShe can't see my motivationAin't got no securityI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want to die here
I don't want twentieth century, manI don't want twentieth century, manI don't want twentieth century, manI don't want twentieth century, man
This is the twentieth centuryBut too much aggravationThis is the edge of insanityI'm a twentieth century man but I don't want to be her

** Living On a Thin Line
All the stories have been toldOf kings and days of oldBut there's no England now(There's no England now)All the wars that were won and lostSomehow don't seem to matter very much anymore
All the lies we were told (all the lies that we were told)All the lies of the people running roundTheir castles have burned
I see changeBut inside we're the same as we ever were
Living on a thin line, oohTell me now, what are we supposed to do?Living on a thin line, ooh (living on a thin line)Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Living on a thin line (living on a thin line)Living this way, each day is a dreamWhat am I, what are we supposed to do?Living on a thin line, ooh (living on a thin line)Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Now another century nearly goneWhat are we gonna leave for the young? What we couldn't do, what we wouldn't doIt's a crime, but does it matter?Does it matter much, does it matter much to you?Does it ever really matter?Yes, it really, really matters
Living on a thin line, ooh (living on a thin line)Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?Living on a thin line, ooh (living on a thin line)Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?
Then another leader says"Break their hearts and break some heads"Is there nothing we can say or do?Blame the future on the pastAlways lost in bloody gutsAnd when they're gone, it's me and you
Living on a thin line, oohTell me now, what are we supposed to do?Living on a thin line, ooh (living on a thin line)Tell me now, what are we supposed to do?Living on a thin line, ooh

Dirty old river, must you keep rollingFlowing into the night?People so busy, make me feel dizzyTaxi light shines so brightBut I don't need no friendsAs long as I gaze onWaterloo sunsetI am in paradise
Every day, I look at the world from my windowBut chilly, chilly is the evening timeWaterloo sunset's fine (Waterloo sunset's fine)
Terry meets JulieWaterloo stationEvery Friday nightBut I am so lazy, don't want to wanderI stay at home at nightBut I don't feel afraidAs long as I gaze onWaterloo sunsetI am in paradise
Every day, I look at the world from my windowBut chilly, chilly is the evening timeWaterloo sunset's fine (Waterloo sunset's fine)
Millions of people swarming like flies 'roundWaterloo undergroundBut Terry and Julie cross over the riverWhere they feel safe and soundAnd they don't need no friendsAs long as they gaze onWaterloo SunsetThey are in paradise
Waterloo sunset's fine (Waterloo sunset's fine)Waterloo sunset's fine

My girlfriend's run off with my carAnd gone back to her ma and paTellin' tales of drunkenness and crueltyNow I'm sittin' hereSippin' at my ice cold beerLazin' on a sunny afternoon
Help me, help me, help me sail awayWell, give me two good reasons why I oughta stay'Cause I love to live so pleasantlyLive this life of luxuryLazin' on a sunny afternoon
In the summertimeIn the summertimeIn the summertime
Oh, save me, save me, save me from this squeezeI got a big fat mama tryna break meAnd I love to live so pleasantlyLive this life of luxuryLazin' on a sunny afternoon

TILL THE END OF THE DAY

                                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuBA873T5Xw
Baby, I feel goodFrom the moment I riseFeel good from morningTill the end of the dayTill the end of the day
Yeah, you and meWe live this lifeFrom when we get upTill we go sleep at nightYou and me we're freeWe do as we please, yeahFrom morning, till the end of the dayTill the end of the day
Yeah, I get upAnd I see the sun upAnd I feel good, yeah'Cause my life has begunYou and me we're freeWe do as we please, yeahFrom morning, till the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the day
You and me we're freeWe do as we please, yeahFrom morning, till the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the dayTill the end of the day

All my life I've never stopped to worry 'bout a thingOpen up and shout it out, an' never try to singWonderin' if I've done it wrongWill this depression last for long?Won't you tell me?
Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?
Once we had an easy ride and always felt the sameTime was on our side and we had everything to gainThis could be like yesterdayIs that me or happy days?
Ma and pa look back on all the things they used to doNever had no money and they always told the truthDaddy didn't need no little toysMommy didn't need no little boysWon't you tell me?
Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?
Yesterday was such an easy game for you to playAh, but then let's face it, things are easier todayYes, you need some bringing downGet your feet back on the groundWon't you tell me?
Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?Where have all the good times gone?

                               - And God Save The Kinks! -
