The savagery is a losing card. By playing it the US and the West are undercutting every ideological, normative and institutional modality of legitimacy and influence. It is a sign that they couldn't even win militarily, as Hamas, Ansarallah and Hezbollah have won by surviving and waging strategies of denial and guerilla warfare. Israeli objectives have not been realized, and the US looks more isolated and extreme than ever. It won't be forgotten and there are now alternatives.

BALL & CHAIN [Janis Joplin com Big Brother & The Holding Company]


Que extraordinário pedaço de selvagem blues-rock (interpretado alguns anos antes por Big Mama Thornton) , mas sobretudo que voz inesquecível, a de Janis Joplin
Ao ouvir esta grande performance da Janis e seu grupo, tenho a perfeita sensação de percorrer o tempo, à hiper-velocidade da luz, para regressar aos anos de 1969, em que éramos genuinamente pela revolução e abertos à música que vibrava e remexia-nos por dentro, até ao coração e às tripas.

RÃO KYAO - FADO BAILADO


A qualidade deste trabalho - de 1983 - faz dele, no presente, uma óptima escolha para audição de fado instrumental. É um clássico, num certo sentido. 
Esta versão instrumental dos fados - plena de requinte e inspiração - beneficiou das prévias incursões do saxofonista e flautista pelos territórios do jazz e da música indiana.

ARETHA INTERPRETA «YOU MADE ME LOVE YOU»

Um clássico da música popular americana, surgiu num filme, Private Buckaroo (1942) - interpretado pela célebre Helen Forrest

Aretha Franklin, a rainha do soul, realiza nada menos do que uma recriação, em 1962, desta canção. 
               

Prefiro a interpretação de Aretha, pela intensidade expressiva e porque sublinha as potencialidades da melodia.
